Overview of Role
The Royal Life Saving Society NSW Branch (RLSNSW) is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation. Its mission is to prevent loss of life and injury in the community, with the emphasis on aquatic environments. The Aquatic Safety Training Academy (ASTA) is a new $6.5 million facility, located in Seven Hills. The facility will enable Royal Life Saving to deliver a majority of its training courses at the facility as well as the Swim and Survive program which is an initiative of Royal Life Saving that seeks to increase the swimming and water safety skills of all Australian children in order to prevent drowning and increase participation in safe aquatic activity. The RLSNSW is seeking an energetic and motivated swim teacher to deliver a high quality, comprehensive swimming and water safety program in an enjoyable safe environment. This position requires a person to maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the Swim & Survive program and to assist with the continuous improvements and development of the program. You will also ensure customers gain the maximum benefit and enjoyment from the services provided. The role will involve a teamwork approach to your duties and on-going training.
Job Task Profile
To be responsible for the effective, efficient and safe delivery of the Swim & Survive program, this includes:
Develop class plans for all sessions that encourage progression through the range of skills combining stroke development with water safety to build confidence at each level
To show interest, enthusiasm, patience and respect to students, parents and colleagues
To demonstrate and maintain a high level of safety within classes and be aware of emergency procedures relating to this position
Take personal responsibility for behaving in accordance with the organisations' values & directions
To actively participate in continuous improvement of systems, procedures, organisational culture and communication
Ensure work practices and services comply with all legislative requirements, industry standards, regulations and best practice
Essential
Minimum 40 hours experience teaching swimming
Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety
Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Certificate Current Senior First Aid Certificate
Ability to work in a team environment
Strong communication skills
Ability to work in a customer service orientated environment
